Application for a
building permit approval letter.
When your local building department requires a letter of approval from the association before issuing a permit, apply here. Royale verifies the contractor's license, liability and workers' compensation coverage, then issues the letter. Processing takes up to two weeks. A $100 processing fee applies.
Three documents. Incomplete applications are returned.
Signed contract.
Your signed contract or sales agreement with the contractor, describing the work to be done. The contract must include: "Per the requirement of the Association, the Association is to be listed as Additional Insured on the Certificate of Liability Insurance."
Contractor's COI.
Certificate of Insurance with liability, automotive, and workers' compensation, naming the Association and Association address as Certificate Holder, marked "Y" for Additional Insured. Every contractor must carry workers' comp, no exceptions.
Contractor license.
Copy of the contractor's license. The name on the license must match the name on the insurance and the agreement.
Approval requirements are set by your local building department, not by Royale or your association. Questions about why your building department wants association approval should be directed to them. If you need a sample COI to share with your contractor, ask Royale through the contact form.
